ADASTEC and Vicinity Motors partner with Koop to Insure Automated Mass Transit
When it comes to self-driving vehicles the public can use, Michigan is a step ahead of the rest of the nation. This week Michiganders celebrated the arrival of an automated transit bus in the state’s Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. That’s right: automated vehicles are ready for testing in some of the country’s most pristine public spaces.
The bus deployment came about through a partnership between Vicinity Motor Corp. and SAE Level-4 automated driving software provider ADASTEC. As the companies prepared for the launch, they carefully considered how to ensure the safety and reliability of an automated bus service in a popular state park.
That’s when ADASTEC turned to Koop for their expertise in insuring emerging technologies such as robots and automated vehicles. Unlike legacy insurers, Koop understood both the types of coverage ADASTEC would likely need as well as how to evaluate their risk profile by leveraging its experience covering hundreds of similar companies.
Michiganders will have the opportunity to try Vicinity and ADASTEC’s automated bus starting in mid-August. The two companies’ exhaustive research and development will be underpinned by comprehensive business insurance without which Sleeping Bear Dunes visitors – and soon visitors to other parks like it – would be forced to hike through, limiting their access to and enjoyment of America’s natural beauty.
Koop’s customer assurance platform helps tech companies seamlessly navigate the complexities of business insurance, regulatory compliance, and security automation in one place.
We provide a comprehensive suite of insurance coverage that includes General Liability, Technology Errors & Omissions, Cyber Liability, and Management Liability coupled with the most cost-effective SOC 2 compliance certification on the market.
